I wish we had a laundry day. I'm familiar with the rhyme but Monday is grocery shopping day around these parts. Cloth dipes get done every 2-3 days. Typically around Wednesday I sort and cycle everything else through the wash and stack the baskets in the hall. When the kids (3 and 9mos) are asleep I fold everything and put it away in the morning. That's the ideal. Normally the laundry sits waiting to be folded for three to ten days while we paw through it each morning for clean undies. /shrug.

I have already admitted to having slipped on this some recently, but yes, we "intend" to get outside together every day. Often I take a magazine or book and just hold my finger on the spot for the 400th " Look at me, Mommy" or kissing a boo-boo or admiring a flower. What I have noticed is that even the teens appreciate having me near enough to say "watch, Mom" and that they push themselves to new glories when I'm there to show off for. My 13 year old is perfecting her pitching skills and my 15 year old has decided to re-learn the art of the "pull up."

I do take my kids out in the double jogging stroller with the other 3 on bikes, but not regularly. I have realized I do not like combining children and exercise. The exercise is hard enough, why make it worse? So I exercise while they sleep and soak up the vitamin D while they play outside. And even though my reading is in fits and starts, it's the most reading "offline" I ever get to do!

Yes! I take Rachel (13 mos) outside everyday for 30 - 60 minutes of play. We also go on a 2 1/4 mile walk almost every morning, in the nearby county park, but she is in the stroller for that. Caveat: I live in Florida. I hate the heat. This is the only time of year when it is possible to be outside without hating every single second of it. I am going to struggle a lot this summer. Fortuneately (can never spell that word) we live a 5 min walk from the local city pool, and a 20 minute drive from the beach. We will be there a lot in a few months!

I would much prefer to eat foods that haven't been stripped of their nutrients to make them more shelf-stable and then have chemical versions of those same nutrients added back in. They occur naturally in the organic/whole foods version, which is why they aren't listed in the ingredients.

But those extra ingrediants in the "regular" are just iron and b vitamins added for nutrition aren't they? And isn't it the law that they need to be added to the flour in the US? So maybe the organic stuff has them too but they don't list them as they are just a component of fortified flour. Maybe you can buy the cheaper stuff sometimes?

I appreciate this, though my family is not as large, nor my budget as small. I make compromises when we need to, though. The pasta? All those "extra" ingredients are just vitamins, what is in any "enriched" wheat flour--though maybe they are synthetic vitamins, I don't claim to know anything about that, but I wouldn't feel too bad about buying it. There is also a great shopping card at http://www.ewg.org/foodnews/ that helps you choose which are the worst offenders pesticide-wise if you can't buy 100% organic. That kind of thing has been so helpful to me. Love to hear how other families are making organic and local work within their budget! You have some great resources. Maybe if I look harder in my area, I can save more $ too! Thanks!

It's on hold, I think. I really miss planning lessons myself because I feel like it really allows me to teach in a way that reaches each child's heart. I also felt like there was some extra-Biblical stuff that was being treated as Scripture which was kind of a pain to have to discern and sort through. But I will use some of it for Katie Grace since she's doing the Ancients this year.
