This week’s feasts and festivals, plans and projects

,

We’ve been sick here in the Sage House. And by we, I mean me. Three days, sick in bed, coughing and watching Doctor Who and napping and trying to shake this cold. The children have been ill as well, but it doesn’t seem to bother them at all. They just keep right on playing. But here I am, with a cold I just can’t seem to shake.

And just to keep things interesting, my laptop seems to have died as well. I turned it off at 11:30 and it was fine. The next morning I woke up and my poor little laptop wouldn’t turn on. Oddly enough, this was also the exact day after my warranty ended. I had no voice to talk to tech support (see above paragraph re: cold) so my husband called them for me. Blessedly, Dell agreed to honor the warranty and my poor little sick laptop will be making a trip to Dell where in all likelihood the motherboard will be replaced. At least, I hope so. I’d like to have a second chance at backing up all that data I didn’t back up before.

So here I am, with a sick body and a sick laptop, posting on my husband’s itty bitty Inspiron Duo and doing all my planning the old fashioned way– via paper and pencil. So here are our plans for this week.

Monday, February 25With Daddy on retreat, we’ll be easing our way back into the school week. Katie Grace is in her last week of the ancient Romans and will be busy making costumes for Friday’s Roman feast. Nicholas will be wrapping up his geography/mapping main lesson by bridging back to the Native American tribes we studied earlier this year and finding where they lived on the map. And Daniel’s fairy tale this week is Spindle, Shuttle, and Needle by the Brothers Grimm. And Michael… well, Michael will be signing up for cyber school on Wednesday, so he’ll keep working on his Civics and math but is really in a bit of a holding pattern. This was a tough decision, but I think it will be good for him. It’s something we’ve been considering for high school, and my thought was that it might be best to do it now to be sure he’s on the right track for next year.

Tuesday, February 26
Piano lesson day!

 Wednesday, February 27
Today’s the big day we sign Michael up– as long as we can find his birth certificate!

Friday, March 1
Co-op Day! Looking forward to going this week since we were unable to go last week due to illness. And then tonight for family night, a Roman Feast. It’s also St. David’s Day, but since we’ll be at co-op for lunch, we’ll save out leek and potato soup for tomorrow,

Saturday, March 2
Ballet, orchestra, and a trip (hopefully) to the Children’s Museum.

Sunday, March 3
Church and the third Sunday of Lent.

So what do you have planned this week?

Hope you all feel better! Good luck with the cyber school! High school is such a toughy. Thus far, I’ve done high school differently with all four of my oldest children.
