Decluttering/Spring Cleaning Challenge, Day 5

This one is for real day 5. The last decluttering post says day 5 but it’s actually day 4 and for some reason WordPress will not listen to me and let me change the title. WordPress and I still do not have what I would call an amicable relationship. Sigh.

On Real Day 5 we tackled the rest of the hall closet and finally got rid of the VHS tapes. Then we got started on the bathroom. We had 47 things to toss, 40 to donate, and 0 to sell. Our total items decluttered is now 526.

I’m not going to show you a picture of my bathroom, because it is U-G-L-Y. Maybe some day, when we’re able to do something to make it prettier, I will post before and after pictures, but for now I will just leave you with one phrase– linoleum on the wall. I don’t understand why anyone in their right mind thought this was a good idea.

For the record, we have one bathroom. One. There are six of us. Granted, the littlest one isn’t using the potty yet, but still. Six people + one bathroom = high need for organization. A major part of my bathroom decluttering involved moving everything I could out of the shallow, freestanding bathroom cupboard built by the former owners and into the newly decluttered hall closet. My plan is to put some shelves along that wall, even if it’s just bracket-and-board shelves, with two hooks for each kid underneath for their robe and towel. Their little shower caddies will sit on the shelf and their robe and towel will hang underneath. We’ll see how this all works out.

We took Good Friday off. We did clean on Holy Saturday, and I’ll blog about tomorrow, but took Easter Sunday (today) off and will be taking Easter Monday off as well. Next week we’re tackling the bedrooms. Pray for us!
