Waldorf Wednesday #12

Hello there!

It’s been quiet here on the blog. I’m finding myself processing some things—our Martinmas experience, the election, conversations with friends—and I haven’t really had a whole lot to say. So I am trying to tell myself that it’s OK to not say anything. It’s hard, because anyone who knows anything about blogging will tell you “content is king.” You’re supposed to throw something out there, anything, just to keep people coming back. But I don’t want this to be a space where I just spew out junk for the sake of traffic, so I’ll keep thinking until I think I have something worth saying.

Part of what has me off my game is that Halloween was postponed due to Hurricane (Superstorm?) Sandy, which left us in the odd position of celebrating All Saints Day before trick or treating. Then the election was a Great Big Deal. Daylights Savings Time seemed to come later this year as well, and then Martinmas, and now all of a sudden I just realized Thanksgiving and the twins’ second birthday is next week! And the Advent and the Christmas and then Epiphany and then…

So it goes. We always have to strike a balance between looking forward, being in the moment, and evaluating the past.

I do want to say thank you all who bought the Martinmas e-book. It was a joy to write and really helped me clarify my own thoughts on the feast day. I am especially thankful for those of you who shared that the book inspired you. It means so much!

Anyway… I hope you had a lovely Martinmas, full of light and love and warmth. And I hope you have tons of lovely things in your life to be grateful for. And as we move forward into gray days and early nights, I hope the light of St. Martin continues to shine in you!

A verse for blowing out a candle at the end of circle or any time!
I stand so still.
I stand so tall.
I breathe both out and in.
The light will glow
In us, you know,
Until we meet again.
Goodbye! Goodbye!
